I have a brand-new animated music video for you and your little ones! But first, a quick story about persistence…
As some of you know, I have cats. It started with one rescue from my daughter’s school. She needed a playmate, so we adopted another… and, well, nature took its course. Now I have three.
At night, they’d scratch my bedroom door and meow relentlessly. I tried everything—feeding them more, tiring them out with play—but nothing worked. I was sleep-deprived and desperate. Would I have to give them up?! I didn’t want to, we love them. Then, one evening, I simply left my bedroom door open. Just like that, problem solved. They curled up on the bed, no more chaos, and I finally got a good night’s sleep. Sometimes, the solution is right in front of us—we just have to try.
The same lesson applies to creativity. When I wanted to animate the Misha Song, every freelancer told me it wasn’t possible without spending thousands. The Misha books files weren’t layered, making animation tricky. I kept searching, not pushing, but consistently asking around, trying different approaches as to who might be able to help. Finally, I posted an ad with my budget, and someone took the challenge! He adjusted the price slightly, but it was doable—and now, I have the video.
Why am I telling you this? Because as writers and creators, we have to be persistent. The writing and publishing journey is full of hurdles. But if we keep going, stay open, and explore new angles, we’ll find solutions—even when they seem impossible. Often the solution can be straightforward.
And now, proof that perseverance pays off: The Misha Song is here! 🎶 Click on the image to see it.
