Would you leave your job to be a popstar?
That’s the question behind my new book Unstuck, and—believe it or not—it’s one I had to ask myself in real life.
Years ago, I was working as a banker in New York. I had ticked every box: great job, long hours, a sharp suit, and a fast-paced life in the city. But deep down… I felt stuck.
So I did something wild.
I left everything behind and moved to Europe. I didn’t have a plan—but somehow, I ended up starting a girl band in Italy. It was scary, thrilling, and often totally chaotic. But it was also the most alive I’d ever felt.
Julia E K Thomas was our vocal coach and the songwriter behind many of our tunes. We shared unforgettable nights of rehearsals, laughter, and dreams of stardom. And now, all these years later, we’ve both turned our love of storytelling into books.
Julia and Alaya Books for Children recently published a delightful children’s book called “Meerkat Manners”, full of humour, heart, music and life lessons straight from the savanna. If you have little ones in your life—or just love a good giggle and sing-along—I can’t recommend it enough.
